I was wondering if it’s okay to ask a question on how your calculations are peformed in Renewables.ninja. For instance, how’s the wind power calculated without wind speed ? Or maybe the wind speed is not made available as a weather dataset ?

Hi Jess,
We have a dataset which contains hourly wind speeds for the whole global. This is produced by NASA and is based on historic observations plus computer modelling. With the Renewables.ninja, we convert this to power output by bias correcting the wind speeds, adjusting them for turbine height, and then using the power curve of a wind turbine model to make an estimate of electricity output.
